Dreaming of summertime #1

He estado pensando durante días cómo podía empezar esta nueva serie "Soñando con los días de verano". Se me ocurrían muchas cosas que contar interesantes en cuanto a viajes, consejos para viajar, ropa que llevar, etc, etc. Pero veréis, como aún queda para que la mayoría disfrutemos de los días libres pero, sin embargo, el buen tiempo ya está aquí, lo que debemos hacer es acondicionar nuestra casa, que es donde vamos a estar hasta que lleguen esos días, y disfrutar del solecito lo mejor que podamos! ¿No estáis de acuerdo? Para los que tengáis terraza o balcón, mirad qué buenas ideas para ponerlos bonitos y confortables, y desayunar los domingos, y los sábados, y tomar algo con los amigos, o beber una copa de vino por la noche a la luz de las velas. Y los que no tengáis sino ventanas, buscad una donde de bien el sol, y diseñar un rinconcito como éstos justo debajo de ella, que una ventana abierta por donde entre la brisa fresca, es tan agradable como cualquier balcón (lo se de primera mano, que durante muuuchos años no he tenido sino marcos y vidrios).

I've been thinking for days how I could start this new series "Dreaming of summertime".  Many interesting things passed quickly through my mind, some of them as talking about travels, travel tips, some clothes to wear, etc, etc. But see, as there is still time for most of us to enjoy the days off but, however, good weather is already here, what we should do is getting our homes ready to enjoy sunny days as best we can, because it's there where we will be until those days come! Do you agree? For those of you with terrace or balcony, look such good ideas to make them nice and comfortable, and taking breakfast on Sundays, and on Saturdays, a drink with friends or a romantic glass of wine at night. And the ones have no balcony but windows, don't worry, look for one where the sun can come in and design a gorgeous corner just below it, because fresh breeze through an open window is so nice as any balcony (I know first-hand, no balcony home for sooooo many years).

Como veis, con una mesa plegable y un par de sillas ya hacéis el papel, sólo queda rodearse de preciosas plantas y flores. Para no dejarse el dinero de las vacaciones en ello, buscad por casa qué sillas podéis reciclar, o en mercadillos o rastros (nota: la pintura en spray hace maravillas, y lo que era un horror se puede convertir en una preciosidad). Las plantas pueden ser de esas pequeñitas con flores que valen entre 1€ y 2€ en los viveros, y las trasplantáis en un par de maceteros grandes (o cubos corrientes, más baratos), que crecen enseguida. En casa, cuando compro flores, a pesar de tener jarrones, como más me gusta verlas es en botes de cristal, de esos donde vienen las legumbres o las aceitunas, aunque los que más uso son los de los potitos del peque. Queda sencillo y precioso. Los claveles de color rosa son mis favoritos. 

Si preferís tener un sofá o un banquito y tenéis sitio, mirad qué maravillas podéis hacer con palets:

As you can see, with a folding table and two chairs, you do the trick. Now you only have to be surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers, and set! To not spending the vacation money on it, you can recycle chairs, or get some at flea markets (note: spray paint works wonders, seriously, a horrible thing can become gorgeous). Plants can be of these tiny ones with flowers that cost between 1 € and 2 €, and then you can put them in a couple of larger pots (or ordinary cubes, cheaper). At home, when buying flowers, despite having vases, the most I like to see them is in glass jars, the kind of vegetables or olives, but the most I use are babyfood jars. It is simple and beautiful. Pink carnations are my fave.

Y si no os apetece mancharos las manos, y sois más de "seguro que en IKEA nos saldría más barato y además podemos comer un rollito de salmón escandinavo", estáis de suerte porque IKEA acaba de estrenar su nueva colección de muebles de exterior!! Yayyy!!

And if you are not in the mood to get your hands dirty, and are more "I'm sure that IKEA would be cheaper and we can also eat a Scandinavian salmon roll," lucky you! Because IKEA has just lunched its new outdoor furniture collection! Yayyy!
