Not just a mum: Una mamá en Francia/ A mom in France

Embarazo: ¿Quién propone antes tener un bebé?/ Pregnancy: Who let out the baby's thing first?

Translation: Wanna do what we said we'd do?

When a couple decide to have a child, who takes the first step when it comes to let it out? They said that women have the so-called maternal instinct, the biological clock, the need, and more names for what the popular belief gives us when it comes the time to become a mother. But doing a little research, and based on my own experience, I found out that reality is very different and there are many men who want to have a baby long before their partner feel the so-called "call".

How was your time? It's more important than it seems, because the woman's life changes dramatically with motherhood, as Peggy says on the post is coming next, so maybe if we don't expect to hear the ticking of the clock, the post-labor shock can be harder. Don't know, don't know what is right, but I would say that nature tends to be right.

P.S. Today I'm glad to have another guest writer here on the blog. A great post about motherhood in France is coming up. Stay tuned! :)

Just a mum: the most beautiful perspective/ la más bella perspectiva

This picture has been in my head since two days ago, and has not went away. I think it is one of those few images that crosses your way along your life that are installed for good on a place in your brain that becomes theirs, and that's because before crossed your heart and made it to fall in love with. When a woman gets pregnant, journeys through a wildly revealing adventure about her own body and her emotions, her own boundaries, her fears, her patience, her sense of humor, her strength and, above all, her ability to love. Feeling your own son or daughter growing inside you becomes a sensation that is installed in a place for good on a place in your brain that becomes its, and that's because it was nine months in your heart and made it to fall madly in love with. And this is the image that illustrates this feeling.

Embarazo: por favor, que sea tranquilo/ Pregnancy: begging the baby to be calm

Translation: Yoga I'm practicing these days is suitable for pregnant women... I'm secretly begging the baby to get glued to this balance and to be veeeery kind and veeeery quiet.

While waiting for Teo, I changed my yoga routine for some asanas more suitable for pregnant ladies (thank you DVD). I turned vegetarian and avoided all contact with what (and who) took balance and wellbeing from me. Didn't planned, but all came up naturally. Now looking back, I think Teo moved my thread from the inside and made me a puppet, his puppet, a much better one.

Did you do something special for you to feel more relaxed than usual? Did you secretly feared that your baby was not going to be calm and happy? On the contrary, do you believe that none of this affects the baby during pregnancy and no matter if you are very anxious or nervous? I am convinced they feel it all, all, all.

Embarazo: ay!/ Pregnancy: ouch!

Translation: ... Don't know how to do...

In pregnancy there comes a time (hopefully when the end is much closer than the beginning) that whatever you do and no matter as you move, everything, and I mean everything, hurts.

Just a mum: Did you dress up while pregnant?/ ¿Te arreglabas durante el embarazo?

Many women I know put their own clothes away when pregnant and spent five or six months wearing huge-black tees and sueters with some leggings or maternity jeans. I also heard a high number of stories about this subject. Do you think it's not possible looking beautiful because the belly?

I invented a lot, because I refused to based my outfits on just Juan's tees and jeans. Dresses, maxi skirts, beautiful patterned leggings, my dad's sueters belted, etc. But, like almost all pregnant women, I tried to hide some parts of my body, especially I was fighting with my new boob's size almost the entire pregnancy. I was getting used to, but it was hard.

There are possibilities, a lot actually, to any belly size, but we find them hard to see and take profit of them because, maybe, we don't accept our new figure. A pregnant woman's silhouette is one of the most beautiful things ever. We must take advantage, don't you think so? It only lasts nine months!

Let these beautiful pictures will inspires you!

It's not true that thing they said about you can not sleep through the night after the baby arrives. It begins well before! Your teeny tiny future chubby offers you a disinterested prior training, by a "slight" flattening of the bladder, to get you into the point.

Translation: "With so much movement and swelling, sometimes I imagine my belly is a pool full of colorful balls where the baby is having a whale of a time!"

Is not that right? Some days it seems that there's a party in there and you don't even know what's going on! Sometimes I imagined this, and others, scenes as this Non-Birthday party of Alice in Wonderland, cakes, music, yelling absurdities, and a baby laughing non-stop! Don't know, it was nuts! Did this happen to you guys?

Embarazo: primeros efectos secundarios/ Pregnancy: first side effects

Translation (from top to bottom): 1 month... 2 months... 3 months... "Have you noticed how my boobs got bigger?" 5 months...

Since I was lucky enough to have one of those no-vomiting pregnancy, the first side effect I noticed (and I was hating it more and more), was this one! Some of you guys must be thinking I'm totally nuts or maybe you just don't understand me, but look, try dressing up with that beautiful bodycon dress you bought months ago to attend your friend's wedding and you'll tell me about it!

P.S. oh, and it's very clear that what it's a tragedy for some, is a gift for others...

Embarazo: las palabras mágicas /Pregnancy: the magic words

When the doctor confirms that you are pregnant, well, this second is one of the most exciting times of your life. Your heart is really touched, and in my case I confess I felt a strong connection with Juan and a love-tsunami, but also lots of intrigue...

Translation (from top to bottom): ... hmmm... I can see kinda something in here... / ... you're about four weeks pregnant...

Embarazo: la primera gran pregunta que te haces/ Pregnancy: the very first question you ask yourself

Translation: ... don't know if I'm feeling more excited or more scared...

'toy feliz...  tengo miedo... 'toy feliz... tengo miedo... 'toy feliz...

Once the possibility that you have got pregnant exists, the nine months (minimum) of wondering begin. This is the first question went through my mind: "Does this make me happy or I'm scared to death?". From there, it was all... happy...  scared ... happy ... scared ... happy ...

Cuánto tiempo es para siempre?/ How long is forever?

Alice: How long is forever?
White Rabbit: Sometimes, just one second.

I'm reblogging this conversation taken from Lewis Carrol masterpiece I read yesterday on The heart of a midwife, and I can't agree more: the very moment you know these words's value, is the moment when you are giving birth your baby.

The heart of a Midwife is a tumblr with amazingly beautiful pictures, as the top one.

Embarazo: muchas cosas inesperadas.../ Pregnancy: so unexpected things...

Translation (first, the words round the character in the middle says literally "SMELLY FART". Now top to bottom): Another thing I was not ready for... Luckily, it happened only at the end of pregnancy, was shortlived...

Y no podéis negarlo!

And you can not deny it! The nine months pregnant, even if you have one of those pregnancies really good with no vomiting or constant malaise (and you have to know I was lucky to have one of these), is a period when you feel as being at a theme park, because every day you are surprised with something new, sometimes lasting only that day and sometimes stays with you for weeks, even months. Some surprises are nice, and others are a nightmare!

This is the third drawing posted here at In addition to Carol. When Teo was in my belly about six months, I started drawing and writing this comics about pregnancy and the dozens of anecdotes that accompany it. The main character is myself, and anecdotes, the ones I lived. But curiously, after showing it to my friends, my cousin (who yesterday became a mom: Congrats sweetie!) and other women around me, they recognized themselves in these drawings. I realized that all of us live the same things, but we don't tell us each other! Every Wednesday, I will keep posting a drawing of my comic. Hope you like it, and those of you who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you can take a look here, the crystal ball is answering ;) xoxo

P.D: suitable for daddies and daddies to be. Stay tuned to the stories and Juan's opinions, because he was pregnant too, of course!

Embarazo: no es un virus, estás embarazada/ Pregnancy: you're not sick, you're pregnant

Translation (top to bottom): I'm not feeling well... - Again? Ok, let's go to the doctor / -Tell me dearrr, what's happening? - ... Don't know, I'm feeling weak, my belly hurts... - mmm, ok...- Last night I had a fever... I don't want to eat... everything tastes disgusting!!

Not just a mum: good posture, good item/ buena postura, buen artículo

Translation (top to bottom, left to right): Am I sure about this? ... it's gonna be great... And what about our life together? ... once he is  in our arms...

Oh, pregnancy... Nine months wondering...

Just a mum: some curious things/ Sólo una mami: algunas curiosidades

Not just a mum/ No sólo una mami

I am very curious about something:

Those of you guys who are already mothers, how long it was before you did a short (very short) vacation with your partner (or by your own!) after your baby were born? I mean, without the baby. And those are not, and now you can say so many things you will do and some others that will never change (lol), when do you think is a good time?

Teo is already one year. And Juan and I have not enjoyed these mini-vacations so far. Well, actually, we've only gone out on a dinner-date one night just the two of us! Yes, my parents stayed with him, and yet we had to come back earlier than expected, fatty kiddo was kind of sick. Oh, and this past Sunday we went out for lunch, again thanks to my parents, and it was great also because it was snowing! How romantic is that?
Not complaining at all!
